Our Story | The History of Kalangala Pentecostal Church
Every Building Has a Foundation. Ours Is God's Faithfulness.
The Early Years Kalangala Pentecostal Church began as a small fellowship known as World Outreach Evangelical Enterprise Fellowship (WOEEF). By 1990, the fellowship had grown to just ten members, who came together to build a modest wooden, grass-thatched structure — a humble start to what God had planned.
A Divine Partnership (1991) In 1991, a team of evangelists from what is now Watoto Church (then Kampala Pentecostal Church) held a five-day crusade in the Kalangala trading center. They were seeking a church to partner with — and by God’s grace, they found WOEEF. This partnership connected the fellowship to the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG), bringing crucial support that allowed the purchase of one acre of land from the late Longino Kamulegeya.
Growing Together (1992–1995)
Between 1992 and 1993, the congregation grew to approximately 35 members, and a larger structure — built of poles, mud, and a grass roof — was constructed. From 1994 to 1995, the church stepped out into outreach missions across Buggala Island and neighboring islands, including Bubembe Island, where the first branch church was established at Kasisa landing site.
Moving to Town (1996–2001)
In 1996, church leadership sensed a divine leading to move from the village to the town center — a decision driven by the growing number of members from town who were traveling long distances to attend. Government workers, professionals, and born-again students joined the church. Through sacrificial pledges and offerings, the congregation purchased two acres of land in the town center in 1999, and members personally helped excavate stone and lay the foundation for a new structure. In 2001, the church moved from Ssese Farm School to its new site in Buggala LC1.
Faith Through the Rain (2002)
Building for the Future (2022–Today) In 2022, KPC broke ground on a new, permanent church structure. By God's grace, the foundation is now complete — and the church continues to trust God for its full completion, believing for a building that can hold the growing congregation and expand the church's reach across the islands
